Make Up 101 – For beginners!
Posted in Fashion by JenAs a person who has a strong interest in beauty, when you first learn to apply make-up, it can be all kinds of crazy. I can guarantee you that it’s not something you perfect right away so this article is just a little introduction to the world of make-up for those of you who have always wanted to try but never saw through to it (due to your own personal reasons). Whatever those reasons may be I hope this helps you to look past them and realize how fun make-up can be.
I would like to begin with a phrase that I live by. I want you readers to never ever forget this; Make-up is to enhance one’s beauty. Seriously, I cannot imagine how I can possibly emphasize the importance of this phrase. I believe it is one of the most vital things a person should know when introducing themselves to make-up. Along the way people tend to forget this and the result is not pretty…
With that being said, here is your tip #1: When trying make-up for the first time, please remember it is your first time and you are still just experimenting!
For those who have never even stepped into a make-up store/aisle/section, or wear anything other than chapstick and lipgloss, then please, do yourself a favor, give yourself time before you step out into the world with your new “make-over”. Change is a big step for anyone involving anything in life, even when it concerns your look and style (more importantly your face). To simply put it, when you take that first step to enhance how you look, 99.99% of the time you will not be able to achieve that perfect look you were going for. You are not going to look like the people you see in YouTube videos, in magazines or on TV. It takes time to find what works best for you!
(I would not suggest going out like this on a daily basis…)
This brings us to tip #2: It’s all about experimenting and practicing!
There are over millions of techniques you could use to apply any beauty product. It’s all about what works best for YOU. Whatever is the easiest and feels the most natural for YOU.
Tip #3: Be creative, be natural, be you.
Make-up isn’t supposed to be a task; it is definitely not something you have to use. It’s just fun and it gives you that little extra oomph~. Once you think you’ve got it down then be creative. Play with colors, create your own look, and try some of your favorite looks others have created. If you choose to use make-up everyday then please have this in mind, keep it natural and just be you. Find an everyday look that fits you. You don’t have to go overboard (there’s no reason why you should). You don’t need to put pounds of make-up on everyday to achieve a beautiful look that brings out your best features. The purpose of makeup is to define your features not hide them or completely change them.
Tip #4: The essentials.
- Eyeliner
- Lip gloss/lip balm
- Concealer
- Mascara
- Foundation
These are just for a simple, everyday, you only have 10-15 min. to spare, look and of course these are merely only my essentials. The reason why I put foundation last is because for me it isn’t an essential per se. It all depends on your skin type. If you feel you have a lot of blemishes or an uneven skin tone then go for it. It’s all up to you.
Tip #5: At the end of the day, take the make-up away!
This is the last and most important tip I have for you today. Always, ALWAYS, remember to take your make-up off at the end of the day, at night, whenever as long as it’s BEFORE you go to bed. A skincare routine, from personal experience, is hard to keep up with especially if you have a hectic life, I know. But at least, cleanse your face before you go to bed. Buy some make-up removal facial wipes and then just rinse with water, as long as you get it off your face. Trust me! I’m pretty sure no one wants premature wrinkles or a face full of acne. Leaving your make-up on overnight can clog your pores causing breakouts and the product settling on your skin can lead to premature wrinkles and other unsightly blemishes. It will only hurt you in the end! So please, remember to take the make-up off.
The sole purpose of this article was to help those who were interested. I’m not a professional so you are not obligated to take my advice but I thought it’d be nice. I do not take credit for all of the advice I have written here (or the pictures). All of these tips were collected by yours truly over many years of watching YouTube videos, reading magazine articles, MSN articles, etc. Whatever it may be and wherever I may have received them, I simply put what I felt helped me the most over the years into this article. I hope it does the same for you! Have fun and enjoy!
